Shternie Raskin

CEO and Founder of Kiddie Korner Preschool and Co-Founder of BHJA.

Shternie Raskin grew up in Crown Heights in a prominent Chabad home. In 1990, Shternie married Rabbi Aaron L. Raskin, the Rabbi and spiritual leader of Congregation B’nai Avraham. Together they started Chabad Lubavitch of Brooklyn Heights, an organization which services the vast amount of Jewish families in the Downtown Brooklyn area. In 1991, Shternie opened up Kiddie Korner Preschool as a Project of the Chabad Lubavitch of Brooklyn Heights, in an effort to bring Judaic studies, and education in general, to the growing Jewish population in Downtown Brooklyn. Shternie functioned as a teacher and a director for the Preschool during its first ten years, while studying education in Touro College and raising her three young boys. Kiddie Korner Preschool grew rapidly as the Chabad Organization grew and attracted new families to join the vibrant Jewish community Shternie and Rabbi Raskin had created.

In 2015, Shternie and Rabbi Aaron Raskin set out on a new venture and opened up Brooklyn Heights Jewish Academy. The Academy started with 6 families and worked out of the Kiddie Korner Building. In 2017, The Academy had grown to 12 families and moved to its current building at 81 Atlantic Ave. At present, Kiddie Korner Preschool services over 150 families per year and BHJA close to 50 families. The Chabad Lubavitch of Brooklyn Heights has over 300 members, a dream that became reality due to the tireless efforts of Shternie and Rabbi Aaron L. Raskin.

Shternie Raskin is the ‘woman of valor’ as described by her husband Rabbi Aaron L. Raskin. The merit of her hard work and vision brought forth a whole network of Jewish life and education to the our Community. Shternie is raising her children with these values and her 6 children are living this embodiment of devotion to the community, each and every one of them giving themselves to continue their parent’s vision. Shternie continues leading Kiddie Korner Preschool and now BHJA and looks forward to further expand jewish life in Brooklyn Heights.
